Fifty-one years later and now I know. Paperback Writer is a query letter. (I never knew what a query letter was until I started writing them myself in my ongoing quest to get my books published.)
Thank goodness for an incredible on-line community of writers that makes it easier, especially Janet Reid’s blog, QueryShark. Without it would walk, dizzy from the heat, my shoes gummy from the melting tar that is hackneyed prose and pointless adjectives.
Lucky you have abundant musical talent Mr. McCartney, because you don’t get to the protagonist and the choices he faces until the second paragraph.
